Chris with a nice WAHOO

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

This is a 60 lb fish and serious work on 20 lb gear. Like trying to hang onto a Race horse at high speed. Chris wrote me a few days ago and said ” I had a really good time and I never expected the Wahoo fishing to be that good, and the night out at Viola topped it off and the boy managed a big T-bone with a pint! ”

OCTOBER 8th and BETTER again

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

The Captain with the days catch of 6 out of 11 hookups. All the strikes were multiples and up to four at a time. It gets hectic with two anglers on 20 lb gear and trying to handle four fish at a time. img_4496

WAY TO GO Katherine. Even as small as she is at 15, with the correct adjustment to the chair it is a piece of cake for any agile junior angler. To make things even easier to get that rod to the chair I made an addition of the butt handles from Roddy Hayes. Running around the cockpit with one of those outfits is not easy at best of times but the handles seen in the pic made it so much easier.

George Staros passed away last Friday Aug 14 at his home in Florida. George and his brother Bill were known as the Golden Greeks and dominated the tuna fishing scene in Florida for years with the most famous of anglers, Bill Carpenter and Jo Jo Del Guercio.

FIRST TIME ANGLERS

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Here is a good example of success for a first time angler. This fish also came up tail wrapped and completely out of puff. Turning a fish loose in this condition could result in certain death. We tied a lanyard to the bill and towed the fish about one boat length behind the boat; slow ahaed on one engine. About ten minutes was all it took and the fish started swimming upright and came right up to the boat where it was released to live a good life in the North atlantic. see you next year Fish !!
