Massive Madeira Marlin

Wireman Jeff Thomas from the CHUINDER jumped across onto the KATHERINE B to place this sat tag into a massive Madeiran Blue Marlin. The tag has a 6 month archival capacity and will give biologists a wealth of information when it pops. The other interesting aspect of this was that 20 minutes later the CHUNDER, captained by Bark Garnsey placed another sat tag into a 400 pound fish again by Jeff for Stewart Campbell. It will be interesting to see the track taken by these two very different size fish tagged on the same day and location.

The angler on the big fish was Roland Edge from London, England who was on his first day ever marlin fishing in his life. Fishing will never be the same for him again. Poor Chap !

The sat tags are the latest in a new breed of archival tags being used and made in Seattle Washington.. They were made available to us by the generosity of Stewart Campbell and sponsored by IGFA trustee Paxson Offield.

The fish were tagged on Monday 6th of August. We must wait for the news.
