Its WAHOO time again in Madeira.

About the marlin.
The fish was caught by Mrs Candy Kennedy who bought my package at the IGFA Banquet Auction. She fished two days on the “Katherine B”. This was the first Marlin she ever caught in her life. She had never used a chair or seat harness.
I never saw a woman take to the chair like her. She was a natural. It took her 1 hour 20 minutes to bring the fish along side and she had 65 lb of drag on for the last hour of the fight. I called the fish a good grand and believe me it was a fat one. It was released with a Billfish Foundation Tag in excellent condition. It was a potential Ladies World Record. Candy did not want to kill the fish and I had no problem with that. We were using SUFIX Key Lime 130 lb line and SUFIX 650 lb SUPREME leader. The lure was a BIG T of amber color that resembled a deep plunger. I had this lure in the box for years but put it out as the squid have turned up
off Madeira and this would be close to the right colors.
